What is this notice?

  • A notification to voters who signed a petition to put a proposed constitutional amendment on the ballot for the next general election (November 2026).
  • The petition was received and verified by the Orange County Supervisor of Elections.
  • The voter will reply to the Florida Office of Election Crimes and Security.
  • This notification process is a new requirement under state law, as directed by the Florida Legislature.
    • Supervisors of Elections have been mandated to produce these notifications.

Why did the voter receive it?

  • Our records in Orange County show a petition was submitted with their name and signature.
  • State law requires voters to be given the opportunity to verify whether the signature is theirs.

Is the voter accused of anything?

  • No. This is a notification, not an accusation.
    • This notice does not indicate any wrongdoing on their behalf.
  • The letter includes a general warning that knowingly making a false official statement is a crime, but it does not say the voter has done anything wrong.

What does the voter need to do?

  • They have two options:
  • Option 1: “YES, I signed the petition.”
    • No further action is required. They may keep the letter for their records.
  • Option 2: “NO, I did not sign the petition.”
    • Check the box indicating misrepresentation/forgery.
    • Sign and date the form.
    • Detach the bottom portion.
    • Mail it back to the Florida Office of Election Crimes and Security using the postage paid envelope provided.

What happens if a voter says they did NOT sign and they return this?

  • The voter is stating their signature was misrepresented or forged.
  • The petition form in question will be invalidated.
  • It will not be counted toward placing the referenced amendment on the ballot.

Is there a deadline?

  • Yes. If returning the notice to report misrepresentation/forgery, it must be received by the Office of Election Crimes and Security on or before February 1, 2026.
